As a therapist Stephen is in a place if his own. Although using many well known styles such as, CBT and T.A. he is very inventive and eclectic in his approach with patients. every patients has a different and unique experience when being treated. Stephen will go from empathic listening and analysis, to whiteboard coaching and teaching all in the same session. Some patients actually report feeling breathless and need a time to feel the effects. Often patients say a week or two later I will be in a situation and Stephen's voice comes into my head and reminds me who and what I am capable of. His success rate with patients is as close to 100% as you can imagine. Of course all psychologists come across the patient who resists help and so you have to refer them on - but for Stephen this is a very rare event. What is amazing is he can deal with cultural issues in China like a native. Although he has the most basic Mandarin, he understand the Chinese patients point of view and how they see the World differently to Western thinking.
